Marco Pedrini was a Swiss mountaineer born in Lugano in 1958. He began climbing at the age of 18 in 1976 and became a mountain guide in 1978. Notably, in 1985, he achieved the first solo ascent of the Patagonian peak Cerro Torre via the Compressor Route. His ascent was documented in the film 'Cumbre', directed by Fulvio Mariani. Unfortunately, Pedrini's life was cut short when he died while climbing Petit Dru in 1986.
