Marcus E. Raichle is an American neuroscientist at Washington University in St. Louis. Born in 1937, he obtained a bachelor's degree in 1960 and completed his medical studies in 1964 at the same university. Since 1972, Raichle has held a professorship in radiology, neurology, neurobiology, and biomedical engineering. He is renowned for pioneering functional imaging of the nervous system and has extensively studied neurological and psychiatric disorders using PET and fMRI, contributing to the Human Connectome Project and discovering the Default Mode Network.
