Marek Szurawski, born on June 3, 1948, in Białogard, is a Polish journalist, translator, and trainer by profession, and a passionate sailor and mariner. He is a performer of sea shanties and a co-founder of the Polish shanty movement. Szurawski is a founding member of the shanty group Stare Dzwony, which celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2017, popularizing professional sea shanty singing in Poland. After the death of fellow member Janusz Sikorski in 1995, Andrzej Korycki joined the band. In 2009, he corrected his surname from Siurawski to Szurawski.
