Margaret Trudeau (born September 10, 1948) is a Canadian activist known for being the wife of Pierre Trudeau, the 15th Prime Minister of Canada, whom she married in 1971 and divorced in 1984. She is the mother of Justin Trudeau, the 23rd and current Prime Minister, and Alexander 'Sasha' Trudeau, a journalist and author, as well as Michel Trudeau (deceased). Notably, she is the first woman in Canadian history to be both a spouse and mother of Prime Ministers. Margaret advocates for those suffering from bipolar disorder, as she has been diagnosed with it.
