Brita Margareta Westlund (June 12, 1943 - May 14, 2003) was a prominent Swedish amateur astronomer, photographer, and meteorologist. She developed a keen interest in astronomy at the age of 16, inspired by the launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957. Westlund became known for her extensive work in observing variable stars and was a member of the Swedish Astronomical Society and the Swedish Amateur Astronomical Association. She documented 9,362 observations from 1961 to 2001, contributed to eclipse observations, and left behind a vast archive of astrophotography. In 2006, a prize was established in her honor.
