Marguerite-Marie Mbida was a prominent Cameroonian political figure born on October 28, 1928, in Yaoundé. She was the only daughter of a cocoa planter and a nurse. In 1946, she married André-Marie Mbida and had six children. Notably, she challenged the Ahidjo government by running as the PDC candidate in the April 26, 1964 legislative elections while her husband was under surveillance. Her political activism led to multiple imprisonments for opposing the government.
