Maria Dolores Agirre Azpiazu was a Basque writer, translator, and teacher born on June 8, 1903, in Errezil, Gipuzkoa, and died on July 26, 1997, in Donostia, Gipuzkoa. She was one of the oldest and most active Basque writers and translators of her generation. Agirre was a member of the Euskaltzaindia and contributed to the preservation and promotion of the Basque language.
