She graduated from the Academy for Journalism in Tilburg in 1997. Genova has written extensively about life under communist rule, human trafficking, child abuse, identity fraud, sexting, and suicide. She has also worked as a journalist, addressing social issues, and is the co-author of the website onlineslim.nl. Her debut novel 'Communisme, sex en leugens' won her the De Looier Debutanten Prijs.
