Maria Karagiōrgē-Gyftodimou (née Agriyanaki) was a Greek writer, leftist activist, and member of the Greek Parliament for EDA in 1963 and 1964. Born on December 23, 1918, in Milies, she completed her secondary education in Volos and enrolled at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1936. Actively participating in anti-junta movements, she was arrested and exiled, where she met her future husband. She contributed significantly to the National Resistance and was a political figure during the Civil War, facing imprisonment during the dictatorship. She passed away on May 20, 2012, at age 94.
