Marques served as president of the BNDES from 2016 to 2017 and was the Secretary of Finance for Rio de Janeiro from 1993 to 1996. She also led CSN from 1996 to 2002. Notably, she was the only woman listed as one of the world's twelve most powerful executives by Time magazine in 1997.
