Maria Pavlovna Vasyagina (born December 14, 1929) is a candidate of biological sciences and a prominent mycologist from Kazakhstan. She graduated from Kazakh State University in 1952 and worked at the Institute of Botany from 1956 to 1988, where she held various positions including senior researcher and department head. Her research focused on the distribution and taxonomy of fungi, resulting in the scientific description of 88 genera, 607 species, and 125 forms, as well as the identification of 126 new species. She is a laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR.
