Marian Garlicki was a Polish general born on December 8, 1908, in Drohobych. He was a significant figure during World War II and later became a professor with a habilitation doctorate in medical sciences specializing in surgery, orthopedics, and traumatology. He served as the rector of the Silesian Medical Academy from 1954 to 1957 and was the chief surgeon of the Polish Army. Additionally, Garlicki held the position of commander-rector of the Military Medical Academy from 1958 to 1965 and was a member of the Polish People's Republic parliament during its second term.
