Mariana Alvim, born Mariana Agostini de Villalba Alvim, was a pioneering Brazilian psychologist. She was born on April 8, 1909, in Rio de Janeiro and passed away on July 13, 2001, in Brasília. Mariana was the first to introduce Carl Rogers' Person-Centered Approach to Brazil. She was the daughter of physician Álvaro Alvim and the granddaughter of Angelo Agostini, a plastic artist, cartoonist, and abolitionist.
