Mariana Sansón Argüello (June 6, 1918 – May 6, 2002) was a Nicaraguan poet and painter. She spent three years in Rome, where she began writing poetry. Her first published works appeared in 1959 in the 'Cuadernos Universitarios' of the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN). Her notable work, 'Zoo Fantástico', was published in 1994. She was the first woman to be admitted to the Nicaraguan Academy of Language and founded a painting school in León. A national poetry contest for women was established in her honor after her death.
