Marianne Laxén is a Finnish gender equality activist born on June 9, 1945, in Helsinki. She has been a feminist peace activist since the 1970s and holds a master's degree in political science, specializing in social policy and economics. Laxén served as a specialist researcher in the Gender Equality Council and was a member of the SDP for 29 years until her departure in 1994. She led the Helsinki City Equality Committee from 2012 to 2017 and signed Paavo Väyrynen's citizen initiative in 2015 regarding Finland's proposed exit from EMU.
