Mariano Viñuales Tierz was a Spanish communist militant born in Huerto, Huesca, on February 12, 1919. He fought with the Popular Army of the Republic during the Spanish Civil War and later with the French Forces of the Interior. In 1944, he was arrested due to a tip-off from pro-Franco neighbors and subsequently sentenced to 12 years and one day in prison for rebellion. Viñuales passed away on October 13, 2013, in Huesca.
