He has been elected as a fellow of both the Indian National Science Academy and the Indian Academy of Sciences. Furthermore, Periasamy received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 1996, awarded by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for his significant contributions to chemical sciences.
