She was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in 2014, representing the electoral district of Vaudreuil. Nichols successfully secured re-elections in 2018 and 2022. However, following her election as a liberal in 2022, she was expelled from the caucus due to her refusal to take on the transport critic role. Consequently, she announced her decision to sit as an independent member. Before her legislative career, Nichols served as the mayor of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot for five years.
