Marie Claire Fisher (1931–2008) was an influential Australian politician and Labor member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1978 to 1988. Born in Paddington, NSW, she faced challenges in her early life, including time in orphanages. Fisher's interest in politics was nurtured through her activism and relationships with prominent feminists. After studying at various institutions, she began her teaching career in 1957. A member of the Labor Party since 1968, she held numerous party roles before her election to the Legislative Council, where she served for a decade.
