Based in Washington, D.C., she captured significant moments, including a photographic essay on the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps. Her notable assignments included documenting reactions to wartime clothing restrictions, Marian Anderson's performance, and a temperature milestone in Manhattan. In 1945, she covered the White House following Truman's presidency and became one of the first women in the White House News Photographers Association. Hansen also took an iconic photo of Eisenhower used as a quasi-official portrait.
