She gained fame for her appearances in the 'Ask the Fruitcake Lady' segments on The Tonight Show. Beyond her television fame, Rudisill was also the aunt of novelist Truman Capote, having helped raise him during parts of his childhood in Alabama and New York City. She became a beloved figure in American pop culture until her passing on November 3, 2006.
