Marika Mikelsaar, born Marika Jürgenson on November 12, 1938, is an Estonian microbiologist. Her primary research areas include clinical microbiology, human microbiome ecology in health and disease, and the mechanisms and development of probiotics. She is well-known for discovering the patented probiotic lactic acid bacterium Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3, utilized in products by Dr. Hellus. For this achievement, she received the EUWIIN Award in 2007 and the Global Women Innovators and Inventors Award in 2008. Mikelsaar is also a member of the Estonian Women Students Association.
