He began his professional career as a judicial reporter during the turbulent years of Italy's 'Years of Lead' for the Turin newspaper Gazzetta del Popolo. He has also written for La Stampa, focusing on society and culture while serving as a special correspondent. Baudino has organized literary festivals in Cuneo and Alba and co-directed the third edition of the International Book Fair in Turin in 1989.
