Mario Luiz Thompson de Carvalho was a Brazilian photographer born on April 28, 1945, in São Paulo. He was the son of pianist Íris Thompson de Carvalho. Throughout his career, he captured numerous composers, musicians, and singers of Brazilian popular music, as well as the essence of Brazil and its people. A significant portion of his photographic collection was published in the book 'Bem-Te-Vi: Música Popular Brasileira', which features images of over 1,370 artists. He is regarded as one of the primary photographers associated with MPB.
