Mário Nascimento (1902-1968) was a Portuguese journalist, poet, and scenic painter, born in Setúbal. He completed his secondary education at Liceu de Bocage and later worked briefly as a secretary. Eventually, he became the director of a local social association. Nascimento was also an amateur artist who painted in oil and watercolor, and he was musically inclined, playing the Portuguese guitar and piano. A committed democrat, he condemned social oppression throughout his life. He married D.ª Elisa de Oliveira Assis in 1948 and lived in Palmela.
