Marion Fawkes, born on December 3, 1948, is a British former racewalker known for being the first official female world champion in racewalking, winning at the 1979 IAAF World Race Walking Cup. Despite her small stature of 4 foot 11 inches (1.50 m), she broke four world records in her career and set multiple British and European records. After competing in the early days of women's racewalking, she transitioned to coaching young walkers and officiated in her later years. Fawkes maintained a full-time job while pursuing her athletic career.
