Marius Andersen (December 19, 1924 – May 2, 1997) was the first mayor of the new Aalborg Municipality following the 1970 municipal reform in Denmark. Growing up in poverty, he entered the city council as its youngest member at 29 in 1954. Andersen, a member of the Social Democrats, served until 1981, overseeing significant developments in Aalborg, including the establishment of Aalborg University and improved sports facilities. His career was marred by the Aalborg scandal, leading to a prison sentence for accepting bribes.
