Marius Dobrescu is a Romanian writer, journalist, translator, and essayist born on April 23, 1951, in Brăila, Romania. He is notable for being the only Albanian language specialist endorsed by writer Ismail Kadare to translate his works into Romanian. Dobrescu is the founder and editor-in-chief of the Albanian-Romanian cultural magazine Miku i shqiptarit ('The Friend of the Albanian'), launched in November 2001 in Bucharest, which was renamed 'Drita' ('Light') in 2017. He has authored and translated numerous books focused on Albania, its people, and their relationship with Romania.
