Marius Theophilus Johannesen was a Faroese teacher, politician, author, and editor born on March 5, 1905, in Funningur and died on July 16, 1986, in Tórshavn. At age fourteen, he went to sea for four years before attending teacher training school in 1923 and graduating in 1926. He worked in various schools and eventually became the head of Føroya fólkaháskúla in 1953. He held several roles in the Faroese education system and served in the Parliament representing the Self-Government Party. Marius was also a prolific writer of children's books and educational materials.
