Mariya Ahmed Didi is a member of the Maldives Parliament and a women's rights activist. She earned a law degree from the United Kingdom, becoming the first qualified female lawyer in the Maldives. Elected as a Future Party member, she joined an opposition party in November 2005. Didi led the first women's rights march in March 2006 and received the International Women of Courage Award in 2007. In February 2012, she faced violence and arrest during a protest against the controversial removal of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
