Mark Adler (born April 3, 1959) is an American software engineer known for his work in data compression, specifically as the inventor of the Adler-32 algorithm. He also contributed to the development of the zlib and gzip libraries and was involved in the development of the PNG file format. Additionally, Adler has been actively engaged in space exploration.
