Mark Hobden was a Royal Air Force officer who proposed the establishment of the Green Line in Nicosia in 1963. He joined the RAF in 1930 as a surface gunner and served in various squadrons during World War II. He commanded No. 2726 Squadron, providing protection at Eindhoven Airfield and followed the Allied advance to Lubeck. Post-war, he served in Iraq and the Canal Zone before leading the Light Anti-Aircraft Squadron. His significant role in stabilizing Nicosia earned him an OBE. He retired in July 1972 after serving in the British Ministry of Defence.
