Mark Santer is a British Anglican theologian and educator born on December 29, 1936. He served as the Bishop of Birmingham in the Church of England from 1987 to 2002. Santer trained at Marlborough College and Queens' College, Cambridge, and was ordained in 1963. He held various academic positions and was the Principal of Westcott House from 1972 to 1981. Following his consecration as Bishop in 1981, he served as Suffragan Bishop in London before becoming Bishop of Birmingham. An outspoken critic of political correctness, he has contributed to discussions on faith and society.
