Born in Surrey in 1938, he transitioned from a legal career to co-founding the magazine Movie. He produced acclaimed drama series such as 'The Six Wives of Henry VIII' and 'Casanova', earning multiple Emmy nominations. As head of drama at the BBC from 1988 to 1993, he later founded BBC Films. His notable later works include Alan Bennett's 'Talking Heads' and 'Cambridge Spies'. Shivas passed away in 2008.
