Mark Tewksbury is a former Canadian swimmer born on February 7, 1968, in Calgary, Alberta. He won a silver medal with the Canadian 4 × 100-m medley relay team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and a bronze medal in the medley relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. His greatest achievement came in 1992 when he won the gold medal in the 100 m backstroke. Tewksbury publicly came out as gay in 1998 and is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation. He was appointed as a representative for Team Canada for the 2012 Olympic Games.
