Markellos Sitarenios is a retired Greek water polo player born on May 14, 1956. He represented Greece in the 1980 and 1984 Olympics and earned 256 caps for the national team, participating in multiple European and World Championships. A prominent player for Ethnikos Piraeus, he won 14 consecutive titles. He was the first Greek to play professionally in Italy and later coached various clubs, leading the Greek youth team to its first European medal in 1993. Sitarenios has been involved in developing youth water polo in Greece since 2012.
