Markku Hattula, born on September 10, 1950, in Kestilä, is a Finnish author and literature therapy instructor. He has published novels, short stories, a detective novel, and plays while also serving as a creative writing instructor. Hattula graduated as an engineer from Wärtsilä Technical Institute in 1975 and completed a degree in liberal adult education at the University of Tampere in 2001. He has been a member of the Finnish Playwrights' Association since 1998 and the Finnish Writers' Association since 2002. He has lived in Riihimäki since 1984.
