He is well-known for his successful collaboration with singer Kaija Koo, resulting in albums that have sold over half a million copies combined, earning several platinum and gold records. Their partnership began in 1993 with the album 'Tuulten viemää', which achieved record-breaking success on Finland's official album charts. Despite their divorce in 2006, they continued to make music together. Impiö is also the son of politician Lauri Impiö and hymn poet Leena Impiö.
