Markku Tapani Niskala (December 5, 1945 – February 21, 2018) was a Finnish humanitarian leader, serving as the Secretary General of the International Red Cross from 2003 to 2008. He was involved in the Finnish Red Cross since 1970 and held various roles including in Africa and as director of the European branch. Niskala also chaired the fundraising committee of the International Red Cross and led KEPA after retirement. He was recognized as Markku of the Year in 2004.
