Marko Mikhailovych Horodetskyi was an influential Ukrainian physician born on May 20, 1923, in Kyiv. He specialized in infectious diseases and served as a colonel in the medical service. Between 1971 and 1991, he was the Chief Infectious Disease Specialist of the Kyiv Military District, and subsequently held the same position at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from 1991 until 2003. His academic achievements include becoming a Candidate of Medical Sciences in 1971 and being awarded the title of Professor in 2003. He was also recognized as an Honored Doctor of the Ukrainian SSR in 1978.
