Markus Gähler was a Swiss ski jumper born on March 26, 1966. He debuted in the Ski Jumping World Cup on December 30, 1986, finishing 89th in Oberstdorf. Despite struggling for success, he was selected for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he placed 44th and 35th in individual events and 8th in team events. His best career result was 23rd place at the 1992 Ski Flying World Championships. He ended his ski jumping career after the 1992/93 season and passed away on May 11, 1997, during a firefighting mission.
