He served as the state manager of ÖVP Wien and was a non-executive city councilor beginning on January 25, 2018, succeeding Gernot Blümel. After the 2020 regional and municipal elections in Vienna, he assumed the role of club chairman from Elisabeth Olischar and passed on his non-executive city councilor responsibilities to Isabelle Jungnickel and Bernadette Arnoldner.
