Marlene van Staden (née Vermaak; February 2, 1981 – June 8, 2023) was a South African politician who served as the mayor of the Modimolle–Mookgophong Local Municipality from 2016 until her death in 2023. A member of the Democratic Alliance, she was elected mayor after no party secured a majority in the 2016 municipal elections. She was re-elected in December 2021. Born in Empangeni, she graduated with a BCom in Tourism Management from the University of Pretoria and later obtained additional qualifications in education and business management.
