Ella Märta Matilda Åsdahl Holmberg (1919-2008) was a Swedish professor of German language at the University of Gothenburg. She earned her student exam in Växjö and a philosophical degree in Nordic languages and literature at Lund University. In 1950, she received her PhD for her dissertation on Low German designations of craftsmen in the Middle Ages. Holmberg held various academic positions, including senior lectureship at Uppsala University and was elected into several scientific societies. Her research focused on Middle Low German philology.
