Marta Bohn-Meyer was an American pilot and engineer, born on August 18, 1957, and passed away on September 18, 2005. She worked as a lead engineer at NASA's Langley Research Center and was the first crew member appointed to the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird project. Bohn-Meyer also served as project manager for advanced wing design studies and was an accomplished aerobatic pilot, being a two-time member of the U.S. Aerobatic Team. Tragically, she died during the 2005 U.S. National Aerobatic Championship when her helicopter crashed due to mechanical failure.
