Marta Elena Casaús Arzú is a Guatemalan sociologist and historian, born on March 24, 1948, in Guatemala. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Casaús Arzú is known for her research on Central American intellectual elites and the study of racism. She has published works on family networks and power elites in Central America and teaches at the Autonomous University of Madrid. In 2013, her research findings helped validate evidence in the trial for genocide against the Maya Ixil people.
