Märta Ramsten, born on December 25, 1936, in Norrköping, is a Swedish musicologist and folk music researcher. She earned her degree in 1960 from Uppsala University and worked at Sveriges Radio until 1968, followed by roles in Swedish folk music and as an archivist at Svenskt visarkiv until 2001. Her doctoral thesis, completed in 1992 at the University of Gothenburg, explored changes in Swedish folk music from 1950 to 1980. Ramsten has been involved in major music collections and is a member of prominent Swedish cultural academies.
