Märta Johanna von Schantz (1923-2014) was a Finnish-Swedish missionary and teacher who served for 30 years in Namibia. Initially a pharmacist, she transitioned to teaching after studying to become a missionary. Sent to South West Africa in 1954 by the Finnish Missionary Society, she worked as an inspector of schools and later taught history and languages at various schools. Many students eventually became prominent figures in independent Namibia. After retiring in 1984, she lived in Helsinki, working as a translator, interpreter, and speaker.
