Martha Farmer Brewer (1928-2006) was the wife of Alabama's 49th governor, Albert Brewer, and served as the First Lady of Alabama. Born in Anniston, Alabama, and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she met Albert during her studies at the University of Alabama. Married for 56 years, their relationship was marked by closeness and affection. Albert Brewer's term as governor ended in January 1971 after losing the Democratic nomination for re-election. Martha passed away on November 14, 2006, in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, and her memorial service was held at the Mountain Brook Baptist Church.
