John Martin Bland, known as Martin Bland, is a prominent British statistician born on 6 March 1947. He has served as a professor of health statistics at the University of York since 2003. Bland specializes in medical measurement, particularly in developing methodologies for method comparison studies, notably the Bland–Altman plot. He was born in Stockport and earned his BSc, MSc, and diploma from Imperial College, London, and later obtained a PhD in epidemiology from the University of London. Prior to his current position, he worked at St. George's Hospital Medical School from 1976 to 2003.
